Hold That Breath' is a visit to our growing-up years, to those days of being curious about the supernatural and haunted places that bring a chill to our spine. A collection of six spooky tales with one of them connecting all others.
1. Ominous
A bored corporate employee turned writer, Shekhar Dutt tests his hands at writing ghost stories. He vividly recalls a chilling experience he and his friends had in boarding school years ago in 1993 and decides to plan a reunion. It's all nostalgia and fun till they reach the school, which is empty due to winter vacation. The incidents that occur next are loosely linked to an urban legend revolving around a headless boy.
2. The Elevator Game
Inspired by a famous incident of Elisa Lam's elevator footage and her dead body that was found in a water tank atop the infamous Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles, this story involves Saachi's supernatural encounter after she shifts from Delhi to Bangalore with her husband. While her husband is a busy software engineer, Saachi learns about an unused lift in which some unfortunate incidents happened. A sucker for anything eerie, she decides to play the elevator game to reach the other world.
3. The Stairway to Hell - Barry Bandeira, a wandering photographer puts up at fort hotel one night on the way from Jaipur to Delhi and learns from an attendant Mohan about an ancient curse. Barry, curious and not sleepy, finds himself exploring the area. Strolling a little more, he reaches a dark corridor with a stairway leading downstairs. Just then, he hears a woman's voice. Maybe a lost guest like him, he thinks and steps down. How he unearths the curse and the repercussions thereof form the crux of this story.
4. Seeing Ghosts - A horror fiction writer, Abhay Kumar reaches his outhouse in Lonavala a few days before his wife to make arrangements for their wedding anniversary. She arrives on a stormy night and they spend some much-needed 'we' time together till they fall asleep. The next morning. Abhay wakes up to find nobody beside him. He now has to confront his nemesis and face his reality.
5. She - Ojas, a rich spoilt brat is dating beautiful Jeevika and is all set for a road trip with her. All he wants is a dirty weekend and he would dump her once they would be back. While on the Delhi-Jaipur expressway, Jeevika tells a true ghost story to spice up the conversation. It turns out as per her that there is a stretch in the same road where people encounter the ghost of a bride at 11:40 p.m. Some see her. Some don't. But 'She' exists.
6. The Final Act - Dhruv has been narrating his script to prolific film producer Raman Chabra all this while. According to Mr. Chabra, horror content in India is yet to gain momentum. They are in a dilapidated cinema hall presently and the meeting was arranged by the producer's meek son-in-law, Nimit. Someone's playing someone here and you might want to ask yourself- What can be scarier? Ghost or Man.
